About the Artwork

The Bhaktamara Stotra (Hymn of the Immortal Devotee) was composed in Sanskrit by the Jain preceptor Manatunga (circa 7th century). It eulogizes the Jina Rishabhanatha, the first Jain savior (tirthankara) of the present time cycle of Jain cosmology.
